The 4th Annual UC Davis Inorganic Chemistry Symposium was held on November 2, 2023 at the Student Community Center. This event was designed to highlight innovative studies in inorganic chemistry. The day consisted of invited speaker presentations given by Boniface Fokwa from UC Riverside, Hemamala Karunadasa from Stanford, Ana de Bettencourt-Dias from UN Reno, Christopher Barile from UN Reno, and Joseph Sunstrom from Daikin America. Our plenary closing speaker was our very own Philip Power from UC Davis Chemistry.
The event also included a poster session that granted postdoctoral, graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to present their work and earn poster prizes. At the conclusion of the event best poster awards were given to Neo Bao (Berben Lab), Connor McLaughlin (Power Lab), Kirti Singh (Berben Lab), Tanner Kimberley (Kauzlarich Lab), Abbey Ragan (Pitts Lab), Andrew Li (Osterloh Lab) and Kyoka Nagashima.
Hosting events like this allow for students to network between academic and industry professionals in their fields of study, it provides an opportunity for our alumni to visit UC Davis and it provides an opportunity for us to interact with researchers and students from our neighboring colleges and universities. This year we were happy to welcome faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students from University of California Merced, University of the Pacific, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and San Jose State University.
